Who operates Gitscrolls
These terms are between you and Matias Andrade Guzmán (the “Operator”), an individual operating Gitscrolls in Chile. They cover the Gitscrolls mobile and desktop apps and the website at gitscrolls.com. Contact: [email protected].
The iOS app is also licensed under Apple’s standard EULA. That EULA governs the licensed iOS app where it conflicts with these terms. Google Play’s terms govern Android downloads and Google Play purchases. These terms govern your relationship with the Gitscrolls operator and its services.
Eligibility and acceptance
Gitscrolls is for people aged 16 or older. You must have authority to enter into these terms and to access the repositories and content you use with the app.
You must explicitly accept these terms before using the app, including free and local-only use. Acceptance is recorded with the terms version and time; for users without an account, that record is stored on the device. If you decline, you cannot continue using the app. Declining does not delete existing notes, repositories, or recovery history.
Accepting these terms is separate from receiving the privacy notice. The content permissions below do not replace any separate notice, consent, or processing choice required by law.
Local use, accounts, and sync
You can read repositories and create, edit, rename, reorder, and delete local notes without a sync subscription. Local-only use does not require an account. You are responsible for your device, credentials, and account security.
Cloud sync and live editing between your devices require an account with active sync access. Sync copies your notes, scrolls, selected code snippets, and related repository references. It does not upload the whole repository. See the privacy notice for details.
Synced content is limited to your account’s authorized devices; publishing or sharing scrolls with other users is not a feature of this version. Sync is not end-to-end encrypted and does not replace an independent backup.
When sync access expires, sync stops. Local notes and recovery history remain available for normal local use. Cloud copies remain while the account exists, including during inactivity, so you can resume sync when access is restored. Subscription expiry and inactivity do not automatically delete your account or its content.
Your data and backups
You are responsible for maintaining independent backups and checking that any export or recovery copy is usable. Sync and recovery features do not constitute a backup service or a guarantee against loss, corruption, deletion or loss of access. Recovery may be unavailable, including after device loss or uninstalling the app. The warranty, support and liability provisions below apply, subject to your mandatory legal rights.
Subscriptions and purchases
Monthly sync subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play in the mobile app. The purchase screen shows the applicable price, tax, billing period, and renewal terms before purchase. Subscriptions renew under the rules of the store that charges you unless canceled there.
Manage cancellation, refunds, and purchase restoration through the original store and the app’s purchase controls. Ordinary cancellation preserves sync access until the paid entitlement expires. Refunds, revocations, and other store entitlement changes may affect access under the applicable store rules. Eligible store purchases offer a 14-day free trial. The purchase screen shows eligibility, the first charge date and the recurring monthly price. Unless canceled by the store’s displayed deadline, the trial converts to a paid, auto-renewing monthly subscription. There is no separate Gitscrolls trial outside the stores.
Desktop honors sync access on the same Gitscrolls account and has no checkout. Legacy complimentary access that does not expire remains non-expiring. Deleting a Gitscrolls account does not cancel a store subscription: cancel it with Apple or Google separately to stop renewal.
Restoring the same store purchase on another Gitscrolls account can transfer its subscription access to that account. The previous account loses access from that purchase, not any separate valid access grant. This does not transfer notes or scrolls between accounts.
Your content
You keep ownership of your code, notes, and other content. You grant Gitscrolls permission to process your content to provide the features you request, such as sync and requests to the AI endpoint you select.
Gitscrolls will not use your code, notes, or other content to train AI models. These terms grant no permission for that use.
You must have permission to access the repositories you connect and to send their content to any service you use. Third-party licenses and confidentiality obligations still apply.
Optional AI
AI use is optional. Before your first-ever AI request, you must acknowledge that prompts and included repository, code, note, and tool context leave the device, the provider’s policies and charges apply, and you must have authority to send that content. This acknowledgement covers requests to the AI destinations you configure. Once accepted, it is remembered across restarts; later requests and changes of provider, model or endpoint do not prompt again.
The app uses your configured API key to authenticate with that endpoint. You are responsible for provider charges. Gitscrolls does not guarantee a provider’s confidentiality, retention, or training practices. Review the provider’s terms and your account settings before sending confidential code.
AI output may be incorrect, incomplete, or unsafe. Review it before relying on it or applying it to code. Declining AI transfers does not prevent non-AI use of the app after you have accepted these terms.
Acceptable use and suspension
Do not use the service unlawfully, access another user’s content without authorization, disrupt the service, or attempt to bypass its security or subscription controls. Gitscrolls may suspend server access for abuse.
Suspension does not itself delete local work or cloud content. Suspended users can still make verified privacy and account-deletion requests by email. The same retention policy applies, with narrowly necessary legal or dispute exceptions described in the privacy notice.
Privacy requests and account deletion
Matias personally handles privacy requests at [email protected]. You can also start account deletion in the app or on the website. Account requests require confirmation through your verified account email; a password, GitHub account or signed-in session does not replace it. Email changes require both the current and replacement addresses to confirm. If the verified address is inaccessible, contact Matias about the limitation and your applicable rights.
The privacy notice explains access, export, correction, deletion and other applicable rights, including restriction, objection, portability, consent withdrawal and complaint or judicial remedies. Initial replies target 7 calendar days; access, export and correction target 30 calendar days from receipt, subject to shorter applicable legal deadlines. Exports contain readable synced content and obtainable account-linked records, exclude secrets and other people’s data, and use private emailed links and temporary packages that expire after 7 days. Reissues do not restart deadlines.
Confirmed deletion disables server access and gives you 7 days to cancel through a separate single-use emailed link, usable while account access is disabled. Opening it does not cancel deletion; an explicit confirmation is required. Unless canceled, deletion begins after that window, with live removal targeted within 30 calendar days of confirmation, including the window and subject to applicable legal requirements. Deletion includes requests to remove identifiable account-linked analytics and diagnostics; provider limits and backups are explained in the privacy notice.
An explicit account-deletion request intentionally removes synced data, including copies removed from devices through sync. Sync and recovery features do not guarantee recovery of intentionally deleted data. Unrelated local-only or unsynced work and its recovery history are preserved. Reconnecting cannot restore the deleted account or cloud content. Only narrowly necessary records may remain for documented legal obligations or actual disputes. Signing out or removing a note or repository is not account deletion; deletion does not cancel store subscriptions.
Availability and warranties
Except for express obligations in these terms and warranties required by applicable law, Gitscrolls is provided “as is” and “as available”. The Operator does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, compatibility with every device or third-party service, preservation or recoverability of data, or that any particular defect will be corrected. To the extent lawfully disclaimable, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement are excluded.
This disclaimer does not limit the obligation to supply a purchased service or any service-quality, security, repair, refund or other obligation or remedy required by applicable law.
Technical support and incident handling
You may contact [email protected] about technical issues. Except where required by applicable law or expressly agreed separately, the Operator has no obligation to provide individual technical support, respond to ordinary support requests, investigate an incident, recover data, supply a workaround, or resolve a defect within any particular period. Any voluntary assistance does not establish a continuing support obligation or service-level agreement.
No goodwill payment, service credit or additional compensation is promised for an outage, data loss or other issue. This does not affect compensation, refunds or other remedies to which you are legally entitled, or the separate privacy-request procedures and deadlines in the privacy notice.
Limitation of liability
The following exclusions apply only where lawful and do not apply to the non-excludable liabilities and rights described below.
If you use Gitscrolls in the course of a trade, business or profession, rather than as a consumer, the Operator excludes liability in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise for loss, corruption, deletion or unavailability of data, loss of profits, revenue, business, anticipated savings or goodwill, and other direct or indirect economic loss arising from use of, or inability to use, Gitscrolls, to the extent such liability may lawfully be excluded. Your legal status depends on applicable law, not merely on your occupation or acceptance of these terms.
For consumers, the Operator remains responsible for losses and remedies for which applicable law makes the Operator responsible. No additional contractual liability is assumed for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made, or losses caused by your unlawful use, to the extent those losses were not caused by the Operator’s breach of contract or legal duty.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing waives mandatory consumer rights, data-protection rights or remedies, or legally required service-quality and security obligations. Where an exclusion is not permitted, the Operator’s liability and your remedies remain governed by applicable law. The separate store agreements described above continue to apply.
Changes
Material changes are published on this page with a version and effective date. Account holders receive email notice at least 14 calendar days before ordinary material changes take effect. The notice period may be shortened when necessary for urgent security fixes or legally required changes, with an explanation emailed as soon as practicable.
Users without an account receive updates through this webpage, not direct or in-app notifications. Material changes do not ordinarily require renewed acceptance; any acceptance or separate processing choice required by applicable law still applies. A change notice is not a record of acceptance or consent.
